We Head for the Abacos

Tomorrow we head for the Abacos.

After much reconfiguration of the boat, we are finally ready to launch for the Bahamas.

Things that have been done in the past 8 months are:

New Autopilot

New Cushions

New Sail Covers

New Bimini Top

New Inverter (#3)

New Generator and generator cover

Dinghy Refurbished

New Wood Floor in the Deck Sole

All new wiring throughout the boat

New High-Pressure Fuel Pump on the Perkins 3-108 engine

Plus lots and lots of minor fixes.

We head out tomorrow morning better prepared than we have ever been.

We actually have a hard goal of arriving at Green Turtle by Friday morning July 2nd, 2010 in order to make the Stranded Naked, Cheeseburger in Paradise party. This is by far the best party we have ever been to in our lives and something we have been looking forward to for a while.

Unfortunately, we are running a little tight on time so will do everything possible to make it there in time. The way I figure it, it will take about three days to get to Green Turtle, steaming all day and most of the night. If we run into ANY technical difficulties, then we run the risk of not making it there in time.


After that party, we hope to meet up with Matt Hungerford on the 5th of July at Nippers. He is a good friend we made last year in the Abacos and who also sailed back with us to the states from Marsh Harbour.

Immediately after that, we are to meet up with my best old friend, Ron Beard at the Hotel Atlantis in Paradise Island, Nassau Bahamas around the 7th.

After all of the scheduled meetups, we have no idea where we'll head next. Maybe the Exumas.
